Biography

Minkyu Kim is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Dankook University. His main research focus is the design and synthesis of functional materials. Before joining Dankook University, he conducted research at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Here, he had focused on the synthesis, chemical and physical modification, and self-assembly of chiral biopolymers such as cellulose nanocrystals, and their application to switchable photonic bio-adhesives, luminescent encryptions, and optoelectronics. Before this, he worked at Florida State University as a Postdoctoral Fellow. During this period, he designed and synthesized functional monomers for the bio-inspired adhesive polymers for bio-medical and electronics applications. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Seoul National University. His graduate studies focused on conjugated polymer-inorganic composites and the exploration of these materials for high-performance energy storage, sensors, solar cells, and wideband antennas.
